Hey there, First post.
I've got a 2004 x-type 2.5l manual, with a blown head gasket and likely a warped head too. My question is, How bad of an idea is it to drop an LS engine in there? and what problems am I likely to run into? I have no idea what engine I'd pick though.

When you say "LS engine" are you talking about a GM LS engine variant or are you talking about a V6 out of a Lincoln LS?
If it is the former, you would be the first. If it is the latter, there are a few threads on here where guys have done that. Do a search and I'm sure you would find them easy enough. As I recall there is some really detailed info on how it is done.

GM LS = given enough time, money, expertise, patience, re-engineering, machining, and again money, anything is POSSIBLE. As for dropping a Lincoln LS in, I've read the info on this in this forum and it's pretty straight forward.
The question is for you to answer the first line in this response.
