2004 X Type Oil Pan Leak Question...
#1

I have had a slow leak from my oil pan area since my last oil change. I don't have to add any oil or anything, just a few drops every soo often. Plus I hear the gasket is like 25$ but labor can be over 1000$. So today it was a little worse, so my question is.... Can I try and tighten the oil pan bolts and see if that fixes the problem? And what about "stop leak" products? Thank you.

You can try and tighten the bolts and it might slow it down, but that will just delay the inevitable.Don't use any stop leak products.
A memeber on here was recently going to try some type of sealant he found. Not sure that he got to it yet though. There is one bolt that is blocked by the transfer case. A number of people have grinded enough metal off it to expose the bolt making it much simpler, otherwise it is a very involved job to fix. If you do a search on here there are multiple threads that explain it in great detail.

A 22mm hole saw (maybe a 24mm?) drilled into the transfer case webbing will allow access to the 13mm head bolt.
The hole does NOT enter the interior of the case so no real damage or oil leaking.
Just 'eyeball' the hidden M8x1.25mm bolt and drill the hole!!
The pan still needs to be 'finessed' from the exhaust pipes and might need a pipe moved.
