RE: 60K service?
I just got back from the dealer and they gave me a price list for all of the services. Here is what they list for the 60k service, which is slightly different from the information listed in the link above. Per the service rep, these prices are the same across the US for all Jaguar dealerships (except for the sales tax).
For 2003 to 2006 X-Types, the total cost for the 60k service is $431.41. The breakdown is as follows:
Time: 2.4
Parts: $129.22
Labor: $265.91
Tax: $9.69
S/S: $26.59
For 2002 X-Types, the total cost for the 60k service is $464.99. The breakdown is as follows:
Time: 2.5
Parts: $148.50
Labor: $277.59
Tax: $11.14
S/S: $27.76
Now, for what the service involves:
[ul][*]Check/top brake fluid, coolant, power assisted steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, andbattery electrolytelevels[*]Check drive belt tension wear indicator(s)[*]Visually check engine compartment for leaks[*]Replace pollen filter[*]Check spare tire in trunk[*]Replace engine oil, filter and drain plug washer[*]Inspect break pads for wear; check rotor condition on pad change[*]Visually check underbody for fluid leaks[*]Check tire pressures[*]Perform comprehensive road test; verify parking break operation[/ul]
That's about it. I hope that this information helps some of you. However, the service rep that I dealt with today took me outside and recommended that I just come in for oil changes and allow them to perform the FREE Jaguar 27-point courtesy inspection each time. He said that it covers pretty much everything above and will only cost $59.95 for the oil change. Just an FYI!

According to the paperwork that they gave me, it says: replace fuel filter (all models except X-Type) at 60k miles; replace fuel filter (X-Type models only) at 70K miles. However, you are the professional one here. I'm a Social Worker, so I don't know a whole lot about cars.

Sorry, but that's mind-boggling. I'm taking the standpoint that this is all inspection, if components are found to be worn, the bill immediately sky rockets.

RE: 60K service?
I agree... all the things listed could be done with a 6 pack of beer...... that is the most expensive oil change I have ever heard of.
It get me all worked up........ 20 years ago, a service llike that would include replacing all the fluids... now they just look at the rotten old fluid... and charge you the same high price..
I thought that this lifetime fill crap was supposed to save the customer money.. instead it is used to make the dealers profit...
