6CDC broken. Manual ejection technique?

My 6CDC has gone kaputz mechanically. I now get the infamous "CDC Error" message on my console, and pressing the Eject button on the CDC causes an unpleasant grinding sound. It's refusing to spit it out.
Is there a manual method for ejecting the 6 CDC cartridge? Just want to retrieve my CDs.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I today have now exactly the same problem. "CDC error" is displayed. My cartridge is not released when "eject" button is pressed. My CDs are inside of the jammed cartridge. Before I fiddle the changer with a screwdriver, I would like to hear from any advice in here first about doing the fiddling manually.
Any advice, please? Any ideas, please?
Thanks in advance!

Slide a thin steel strip - like a flexible 6 inch rule - in under the cartridge. Either slide it in at the front and pull towards the back or in the back and push forwards - can't remember which! That will release the catch and it will release as long as it hasn't jammed with one of the six trays in the load position. I think that's screwdriver time!

Hi all.
In the end, I used a tiny thin screwdriver around the cartridge whilst pressing the eject button. After a few attempts of fiddling, eventually, the cartridge came out.
I put it back on into the case slot, and... IT'S WORKING NOW, as it should be: the CDs are playing OK now.
No more CDC error... until the next time!
I think I will keep the tiny thin screwdriver inside my car for future use.
Thanks anyway!

i took mine apart yesterday and one of the cd,s from the cartridge had not gone back into the cartridge and another had tried to load. so i had two cds trying to play. the sleeves that the cds fit into are only held in place with a small plastic clip . i had to prize them back into place once i had taken the top off. but its tricky and lots of tiny screws. i put it all back together but the motor had burnt out as its dead in the water now. but i have got my cds back. i put a parts search out with several scrap yards but prices are well over the odds
