Hi I read about the forum and not quite sure if I can find a thread with the information I need. my question is:

my x-type do not have premium sound, just regular 4 speaker

1, is our stock speaker is 5.25 or 6.5? Would it be okay to fit 5.25?

2, so i found that crutchfield has the filter so I know if it would fit my car, I thought any speakers should fit any car?

3, im not planning to add a woofer, so if i get a 4 channel amp to power up four door speakers with stock hu, would it be okay?

4, a saw the component system, comes with two tweeters and two speakers, can I just buy two sets and install it at the front and back doors? and 4 tweeters?

I saw this on ebay, so will they fit my doors? anyone know any other speakers like mb quart or jl that would fit our car doors? my budget for all four speakers are less than $800. best to be around $600.

1. 6.5 in all 4 doors.
2. Crutchfield has the filter to show the speakers that fit your car as in size and depth, and any 6.5 car audio speaker should fit in our doors.
3. Yes it will be fine, you will have to get a converter to change your head unit high output to RCA for the amp, unless you get an amp that accepts high input. Honestly after putting good speakers in the doors I don't need a four channel amp, the factory stereo is loud enough.(and I like my music pretty loud)
4. If you have the tweeters in the front door like I do(i assume all x types do) I took my stock tweeters out and epoxied the upgraded tweeters in the stock locations and put the upgraded 6.5 in the door, in the back doors I got component 6.5 with the tweeter built in to the center of the speaker and I love the way my stereo sounds now.

Honestly everyone has there own opinion on car audio but I have always sworn by Infinity, for the money, it cant be beat. Plus you would be able to stay well within your budget. This is very similar what I have, just the newer models.

hi bigben, thanks for the recommendation. So if im just putting those infi speakers, amp is not necessary right? do you use the infi grill or the stock jaguar grill, cause the stock one kinda dull to me. The 62i seems to have a tiny little button for the tweeter, its pretty cool, haha. Btw x-types made before 2004 does not have tweeters on the front door, not sure about the sports one but at least not for the regular type.

 

Mine is an 03 non-sport and it has the tweeters. No an amp is not necessary. I did use the original grills but if you wanted to Im sure you could use the infinity grill.

 

Oh I see, you are lucky. I have an 02 non sport manual, I believe it's the cheapest version available and that's the reason I didn't get any tweeters. Might have to make a hole next to the side view mirror. Thank you so much BigBen.
