ABS/cruise control

ABS/cruise control
Today while making a sharp turn in a parking lot, the ABS light came on. The brakes seem fine, however it disabled my cruise control. After turning the car off and restarting it, the ABS light was off and the cruise worked again. When I pulled in my driveway this evening, again with a fairly sharp turn, the ABS light came on again. WTF ?

JagXster, from the sounds of things, you are having an ABS sensor that is starting to go. What you are experiencing is that when you are driving in a straight line, the signals coming from each wheel are close enough that the computer doesn't consider them a problem. BUt, when you turn, your wheels start turning at a different rate compared to each other and that then causes the ABS light to be activated. I bet you will notice that it will only cause the light when you turn one way, but not the other.
If you are wanting to attempt to fix this before it becomes a big issue, I would say to take a look at your rear ABS sensors and remove them and then do a detailed inspection of the geared piece inside the hub. If you see that it is really rusty in there or you see missing teeth, that hub is going to need to be replaced in the near future. After that, I would look at the wiring to make sure that it is tied out of the way and that there is no damage to the insulation. It is possible that when you are turning, the front wheels could be touching the wiring, making it so the wiring makes and breaks contact, leading to your issue.
