ABS Light strange woes! Resolved
2002 X Type 2.5 auto. My ABS light is on. Not constantly, but usually after 3 or 4 minutes of driving. I can reset the car and it goes off for a short time but always comes on again. The code I got was C1288, which indicates I have a bad Brake Pressure Sensor. That, I understand, is the small plastic thingy on the side of the ABS module. $225 at Jag dealers! Well, I'm in the process of tracking one down. Except... I've noticed now that when I drive in the rain the ABS light doesn't come on! So that tells me it could be something around the wheels?
Are there any tech savy Jag guys out there that can put me out of my misery? I'll put a new sensor in if that'll cure it, but the rain thing is irritating me no end!

Probably dirty sensors.
There are dozens of threads to help, here's a recent one
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-light-80921/
and here's the Rev Sam's video
if that doesn't work there are also lots of threads about repairing the ABS module - but the 'rain thing' makes me think it's the sensors.

You know, that Steve guy in France is a hero! I cleaned the sensors and now the ABS light is history!
Had to take the front wheels off to get at 'em. But once the wheels were off one hex screwdriver and the sensors were in my grubby hands. Cleaned them with a damp cloth and now I don't have that annoying pair of yellow lights staring at me all the time!
Next...
. A pair of securing plugs for my front defroster vents.
. Find out why my sunroof wont open.
. A new set of wheel nuts. (for some reason I have three 'non jag' nuts)
. Find the spare cash for a Jag ACM kit for my sounds.($475)
. Clean up and paint my calipers. They are covered in rust.
As my wife says... "British Cars and British Men!" I'm from Fulham SW6 and she's from Montana!

That was quick, glad it worked.
Re the top - I am (all too) familiar with the XK top but I believe your mechanism is different and doesn't seem to cause as many problems.
Can I suggest you start by downloading the JTIS from the sticky HOW-TO.
It is a bit fiddly to install but an absolute mine of information.
That will explain how the top works, fuses, etc.
If you can't sort it out with that then start a new thread.

Damn.
Next thing to check is the wiring - again the JTIS will help here but here's one of many threads

The actual sensor is very robust, the connectors commonly give trouble.
