Question ABS warning light and park brake light on permanently

Hello Jaguar enthusiasts,

I've recently bought a Jaguar X-Type from 2002 and whilst it drives beautifully, it has only one problem: the ABS warning light and the parking brake light are on permanently.

I've had the vehicle diagnosed at a Jaguar specialist after I couldn't find anything obviously wrong with the rear wheel rings or sensors, which are well known to fail over time. Their computer gave an ABS-related error of which I don't know the exact code. They told me it was related to the ABS module and the valves it controls and they advised me to send the ABS module to a revision specialist.

I've just received the module back from them and they stated that they weren't able to locate the error and that the module wasn't repaired, it might still be faulty but they weren't able to repair it. I could send the module to another specialist and wait another week with the chance that they won't be able to fix it as well so that's not the most preferred option.

I've found the following thread with someone having similar issues:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ocation-11508/
In that thread it is stated that the module might just easily be replaced with a second-hand one from another car. I though that a dealer needed to program the module for my car if it comes from another car, is there anyone who knows more about this? Can I just buy a different module from the local wreckers and replace it?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
hiekikowan

Possible cause in another forum as well as one had a wiring short to sensor =

codes come up C1145 and C1175, had to deal with the same problem. The real issue is not the sensor itself but the wheel hub/bearing or the cv axel or anything else that is connected in some way to the sensor. The defective part is causing a disruption to the sensor which is then tripping the error code. It could also be the sensor cable (which is the first thing I replaced) but it isn't likely. In my case, once I replaced the wheel hub and bearing the problem was resolved. Don't forget to clear the code, it will stay on until you clear it with an ODB II analysis tool or disconnect battery for 15 minutes

Thanks for your reply. We've checked continuity of the wiring harness to the rear hub sensors as they are prone to martens destroying them but they seem to be fine, they appear completely undamaged. I'll have the error-code checked later this week (again) so that might clear things up, but if in the meantime anyone has another suggestion it is more than welcome.

Welp, that took a bit longer than expected but I finally got my hands on a diagnostics tool that is able to access the ABS for my X-type.

The OBD Data stream viewer on the tool allowed me to check the most common failure: that of the ABS reluctor ring or the sensor wiring. All four sensors show the same speeds though, so that rules out sensor-related failures.

There is one persistent DTC: C1267. According to this document. I've contacted another ECU repair center in the Netherlands and they stated that if the first center wasn't able to fix my problem, the problem is likely to be located in the ABS hydroblock. If I want to replace this block with one from a wrecked car, what numbers need to match? There are multiple numbers on top of the block. Take a look at the following picture for an example:

AFAIK, the top left number should match as that is the ABS model code (0 265 222 021). Should the number in the top right match as well? What about the number in the bottom center?

The module I've found has number 5X432M110BA, my current module has 1X432M110AE. Both lf these are in the picture so I'm pretty hopeful...

I've just ordered a module with the following numbers:
0 265 222 021
5X432M110BA

This will replace my module which has the following numbers
0 265 222 021
1X432M110AE

Fingers crossed, the unit will be fitted next saturday and I'll post about the results... Thanks for the info so far.

p.s. What do you mean with the 'Example' annotation?

Thanks for your help once more! I received the module yesterday and mounted it tonight, with great results: the warning lights are gone and the ABS is working like a charm!

@cooch hey, I ordered it from a dutch wrecker called Ven Auto's (I live in the Netherlands, so that was the easiest option for me). I paid 125 euro's all in for the unit (combination of the control module and the hydroblock) which was in really nice shape, not to bad I guess.
