ACM Substitute?
I have found another way for all of us to enjoythe pleasures of Ipod music.
Instead of purchasing the Audio Connectivity Module at the steep price of $252, I have found this - http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/smartdeck/
The only worry now is will the cassette wire be able to exit the console?
Would be nice to find out, but already bought the ACM the other day.

RE: ACM Substitute?
it is not really hard to convert anymore. in fact, it is quite simple. windows media player can rip songs into mp3 files, and if it is a storebought cd there is a very good chance it will have all the info properly displayed from the cdbd.
the ipod is all about marketing. i bought a 30gig creative mp3 player about a year ago for my last vehicle for $139 brand new on sale. the 30gig ipod at the time was well over $200, possibly approaching $250. the main reason i like the ACM is for the usb input. i bought a 6gig usb key for $50 a few months ago and have never been happier.

Honestly I bought the 30gb video ipod for my wife because well, I could. I later took it back after buying last years season of desperate housewives for it. I loved the ipod just didn't want to waste that 300 dollars on the ipod alone, so I took it back. The ipod is actually extremely convenient and you can use it for many things especially if you work out, ride bikes pedal or motor, and now even as a primary source for your homes stereo signal. When I bought mine it was when they first came out and nobody could find one. Back then they didn't have any of the stuff that is out for them now. I spent 100 bucks on the transmitter that patches through on your fm radio and it also was a car charger built into one from belkin. Instead of the ipod I spent 250 on a psp and another 100 bucks on accessories and stuff. The psp is seriously where everyone should be going! You can watch videos put pictures on it, its an mp3 player you can watch movies and play games. The psp also has wireless connectivity which allows you to browse the internet just like a computer. You can even save a picture if you find a picture you like! Now they no longer make the umd discs (dvd for the psp) because they are moving towards you purchasing the movies online like itunes and downloading them on the psp. The biggest problem I think there is with apple products is the mad protection of media. I understand why they do it it just sucks when you do pay for music and what not that you have to save it to disc before turning a mp4 into a mp3. I actually would like to get another ipod in the near future because they are an awesome tool!

If you have a tape deck in your X-Type and an iPod Nano, this is the way to go!
Belkin iPod Nano TuneDeck - http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=277954
It's lightweight and alot cheaper than an ACM. Only cost $50 bucks from Belkin and comes with a charger as well.
It only blocks about half an inch of my navi screen and the temperature display but it makes up for it in sound and cost! Also, if you have an 2nd Gen Nano you will need an adaptor from Belkin, they will ship you one for free.

RE: ACM Substitute?
i said that is all you could see from a pic, not that there is nothing else to the system. there are various cables that connect the ACM to the audio system, including a d2b fiber optic cable and some others. plus you have to pay for the parts and labor, which at my local dealer is $110 per hour. $800 is way out of line though. the ACM has a suggested retail price of $249 plus 1 hour of labor to install. if i were you i would call around to another dealer and ask them about it.
