Adding a CD changer to the X-type
I got a OEM Jaguar CD changer to try to add it to my X-type that did not originally have a changer. The one I got came from a 2003 S-type, and I have a 2004 X-type.
I connected it up, and the changer appears to power up, but my radio will not connect to it. Does something need to be done to the radio to tell it ther changer is there? I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes after connecting the changer.

When you say you connected it up did you also connect a D2b (fibre optic) lead?
You need to connect the new CD changer into the cars D2b network and if your car didnt originally have a CD Changer you will need a new piece of fibre optic cable that has an extra connector on it for the CD changer.Once connected if you have a touch screen you can tell the car it has a CD Changer by going into the menu (press the phone and nav buttons together for 5 seconds and enter the code 1971 to access the menus).
If you dont have a touch screen its a visit to a dealer or specialist to connect to their computer to tell the car it now has a CD changer
Good luck

Yes I did connect the fiber optic lead. The car didn't have a changer originally but the fiber optic cables were there in the trunk, and I checked, they are connected al the way to the back of the radio.
I don't have a touch screen, just the basic radio. So it's a trip to the dealer? No secret codes for the base radio?

The exact CD Changer you get is unique to the VIN as well. If activation at the Jag dealership (it takes 5 minutes programming, but depending on how much your dealer, they may charge you 1 hour labor) doesn't work, you'll need to review the CDC part number vs. the VIN.
Jag did several 6CDC's for the X-Type depending on whether it had an in-dash CD, an in-dash cassette, or one of the later ones with bluetooth.
