A friend and former colleague e-mailed me the other day to tell me that her BF bought her a 2002 3.0L X-type as a gift and she's very excited. I happy she's now part of the Jaguar family but have of course heard about some complaints about the car. I would like to reassure her a bit, so after looking over some of the links/TSBs, etc. is there some place in particular you would suggest I direct my friend and her BF to learn more about the car?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Yes hoping to save her some time with research, she says she doesn't drive it much it has 86K on the odo and was a one-owner vehicle. I'll be getting the VIN number and letting my local service rep run the numbers to see what's been done to the car, which will be a good starting off point.

Excellent starting point. Then you can get an idea if the transfer case, tranny and steering rack have been replaced at some point. Likely at least on its second prop shaft I'd guess. Probably had the defroster vents replaced, possibly drivers seat frame wobble fixed, rear suspension bushings and likely an ABS reluctor ring or two on the back.
Have her take a look at the area around the lower door sill below where the front door bolts to the A pillar - check for visible corrosion there. I'm guessing maybe not much salt is used on the road down your way if she lives there too or if the car is from the South. There is likely some corrosion inside the door sill but if it hasn't been exposed to road salt very much its probably not bad or through the paint.
