Aftermarket exhaust

Seems like a reasonable price Jim. What are you going to do for exhaust tips? JEGS and Summit have billions of them to choose from, or I guess you could re-use your factory ones, but that might be more of a hassle than its worth.
I like the looks of the Mina unit, but I agree it would be nice to hear a clip or at least know who made the muffler. I doubt they had it designed from scratch, it might be a Magnaflow or Borla sourced unit with a Mina name. Not sure.

This is an e-mail response from Chris @ Mina Gallery. I was asking about their new X-Type exhaust and if they had a sound clip.
From: Info@Minagallery.com
I just got word today from one of our customers that said he will post a video clip on youtube shortly. I will keep a lookout and try and pass on the details when I get the info.
Also, if it makes a difference this system is 100% custom and not a relabeled Borla or ... In fact, all Mina Gallery exhausts far exceed Borla and Magnaflow in terms of quality and finish. They are not even in the same category.
Thanks,
Chris

There's a third one in the link below as well.

Here is a link to a video, but he has posted several.
I think this is the best http://www.youtube.com/user/s54bmw#p.../2/CneNbx7BFqE
specifically the .17-.26 mark

1) Would you install the Mina yourself or pay to have it done? This might very well be the difference maker price-wise.
2) Are you willing to find the mufflers and tips yourself and have you found a shop to do the install for a reasonable price?
I might go with the Mina as I would do it myself and I know it is made for this car. However if I was going to pay someone to install the Mina, I'd save some cash and pick out aftermarket mufflers and tips and have a shop do the install.
It's up to you and what you want to spend.

I would be tempted to go with the Mina Gallery. It's made for the car so less need for bending and fiddling to make something else work, especially if you are doing it yourself. If I recollect, our exhaust tips have a slight downward angle coming out of the muffler and I'm not sure how easy it is for you to duplicate it. A GOOD professional exhaust tech would probably have no problem.

chris, i would be installing mina myslef since its pretty simple. but as for the magnaflow mufflers a shop would have to do some custom work for me, but the price would be the same as mina exhaust. about $450- $500
i have already found some magnaflow mufflers and there are many muffler shops around here. i did call one and they said maybe like $100 to weld both on. i think they will raise the price once they relied that they are going to have to do some custom bend work. so im guessing another $100 so it will bring the price to about $450.
i just dont know wehat will sound better, i like the mina but then again i have heard some magnaflow systems on an s type and they sound great.
at thtis point im confuzed on which is the right way to go.

^x2 - the X isn't supercharged or a V8.
Jim, I have a feeling that the sound differences between the Mina and the Magnaflow will be negligible, especially from inside the car.
I really don't think you could go wrong either way, Mina, Magna, Flowmaster, Borla, etc.
I like to wrench on cars myself, so I"d do the Mina.

jim you are being way overpriced for the work and labor to install those mufflers... I live in raleigh NC and had gone to a place that does mandral bends and very good work... I had picked out a sed of quad exhaust that were gonna run about $200 a peice and they were going to charge me $40 to install.. thats less than an hours worth of labor with custom fitted mufflers... these guys know what they are doing and are over pricing you... don't let them rip you off lol... anyways i have been eying that new mina exhaust since it came out a few weeks ago.. im gonna go with the porsche look myself... you could bring ti to a shop and theyshould be able to do it for less than $40 bucks.. easy sawing and clipping on... shop around my friend don't them them over price you because your driving a "jaguar"...

You are correct that shopping around is worthwhile, however the market in which one lives has a significant impact on the pricing you will find.
In major metro areas, many shops won't pull your car into the garage for less than a full hourly rate, usually north of $80 these days. They have plenty of work. $40 in Raleigh is great, but I would guess at the lower end of the price spectrum. I don't know where Jim is from.....
