air vacum hose replacement?
Hi I have a 2.5 xtype and i recently got the message "CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE". I removed the cover on the engine and say that there was three small needle sized hose in the air vacum hose the, I replaced it with a "radiator hose" from canadian tire same size and width...is that okay or may cause problems, jag sells one for around 20 dollars canadian i believe. It looks like a bigger a hose and ribbed aswell.

I'd suggest replacing with silicone vacuum hose. Use zip ties (cable ties) to secure each end around the fitting. try www.hosetechniques.com
The difference in size may be attributable to the thickness of the hose, not necessarily a difference in the diameter of the hose opening.
did this fix your cruise control problem? Often the brake switch is the culprit and can fall out of its holder.

Do you mean the crankcase breather pipe (see pic..)?
If so its a common problem on X-Type according to my dealer who sells lots of the new pipes which are now a much improved and sturdier design.Dealer ones are only GB£5 so cheaper than silicone and do the job no problem due to the thicker walls and as said ribbed design.
