Amber CEL but Unable to Read Error Codes
Hello,
First off I would like to give a "thank-you" to the forum for all of the valuable information I've already found. Three weeks ago I purchased my '05 3.0 X-Type with 108,000 miles.
The amber CEL illuminated shortly after I bought it, but before I touched anything. I've tried three different code readers, but I keep getting the same "error reading codes" message. I have not been able to reset the CEL with any of the three code readers I've tried so far or by disconnecting the battery.
With the information that I found on the forum I've already:
1-Changed the engine oil, TC, transmission, and rear differential fluids.
2-Replaced the air and fuel filters.
3-Replaced the spark plugs (replaced the upper intake manifold and TB gaskets).
4-Replaced the IMT Valve O-Rings.
5-Replaced the brake pads and rotors.
The car runs very well, easily pulls to redline, and the cruise control works, but... I still have an amber check engine light.
I have sprayed liberal amounts of starting fluid around all of the usual sources for vacuum leaks with no rise in engine RPM.
Does anybody have any suggestions that would enable me to read the codes before I make the 2 1/2 hour drive to the closest dealer?
Best Regards,
Waldo
