Another newbie with questions
I've been considering replacing my daily driver (mercury mountaineer) with an x-type over the last month. I actually wanted to pick up an x-type 3 years ago when i bought my mountaineer but it was a little bit out of my price range at the time. There are quite a few now for sale in Ohio in the price range I am looking at >15k. I've owned a 3000GT VR4, 3rd gen RX-7, and currently a twin turbo 300zx. So I’ve had my share of mechanical issues with cars (not on the Z though). Is it reasonable to drive a 2004+ x-type as a daily driver. I don't mind regular maintenance items and the occasional non-scheduled item as long as it's not huge mechanical failure that would prevent the car from being driven. I also don't mind getting dirty and doing my own work on the car. I've read some things on this board to look for when test driving aside from the normal. Any other suggestions on what to look for, options to try and find, etc? I really want to find one with navigation.
Greetings to all and especially the Ohio owners on here.

RE: Another newbie with questions
If I were shopping for a JAG..04, 05, 06 and laterwould be the years I would look at..
Price being all things considered..First.
Next, the number of miles?
Who drove it?
Maintenance history and repairs?
Does it need tires and brakes soon...
Do a carfax on it to get an idea..contact a dealer with the VIN and they should be able to look up the maintenance history along with any and all TSB performed..
Good luck

With Dennis's list, and your obvious research around these boards are all you will need to make an informed, educated decision. Only hard part is picking the color combination, options, and engine size.

Anyone have issues with buying from a non-Jaguar dealership?

I might go take a look at this X this weekend. Any thoughts? Would this still have some of the factory warranty left on it? It basically has all the options I want but need to see the color in person.

RE: Another newbie with questions
I took a look at the car this weekend. Look great and drove very nice. But from constantly reading this and a couple other jag boards I have almost talked myself out of buying an x-type.I basically feel with my luck i'll end up with transmission and transfer case issues. I love the car but my level of confidence is low the more i keep reading.
