This is probably the most boring queation posted on here so sorry in advance. I need the rear anti roll bar bushes replacing. Is this an easy job and how long should i expect it to be in the garage? My reason for asking such a vain question is simply, i have very limited time this week due to work load
mark, like Nardo says, the job is pretty easy. 2 bolts on each side, you drop the sway bar down, you pull the metal bracket off of the bushing, slide the rubber piece off, slide the new one on and reverse the order. Your biggest problem is going to be getting the nuts off. For this, I would tell you to the day before to reach under the car and spray all 4 nuts really good with a product like "PB Blaster" or some other rust removal product. Then right before you go to do this, spray them 1 more time as you go to get your tools. That should free thigns up and make this go as quickly as possible.
I`m trying to do this but previous person working on car has stripped nuts holding bracket in place. I`ve found replacement bushes ok but the brackets on mine are different to what appears to be standard. Mine have a hole either side meaning 2 nuts and bolts req`d, (pic 1) standard ones have a clip one end and a nut and bolt at the other (pic 2)....anyone else had this problem? Mine`s a 2005 X type 2.0D CF! X400. As I`m under there I`m replacing drop links too as the bush on driver side one is deformed, any recommendations for good reasonable priced replacements? I`ve bought the ones in pic3 for £16 but my mate says they look *****
Thanks in advance, peter... (when I say i`m doing stuff on my car I mean my mate is doing it cos I can only fix computers or wooden things)
