anyone running 20s on a X??
looking at gettin my gf some rims for her 02..i came across a set of used 20s that are currently on a 03 x, so i know they fit..guy says they do rub a little.
so, does anyone on here have 20s on? how are they?
she knows how to drive on rims with low pros, she is actually drivin my CTS on 20s for the next 2 days.
i really wanted to get her 18 or 19s but this is a good price so if they will fit, ride deacent and not cause any problems i think she is gonna be rollin on 20" of chrome soon.
i am doing a slight brake upgrade to EBC Green Stuff pads, already picked them up, so stopping with the bigger wheels shouldnt be a issue....she wants drilled and slotted just like i have but...she doesnt need them, her rotors are bran new still.
any input appreciated.

What's on there now, 17's? I'd think 18's or 19's top for the best ride. Think about it, you want her taking her lady friends all loaded up in the car, and it rubs the rear fenders? She's gonna feel embarrased, then blame you. Save yourself some grief, and forgo the 20s on that car. Of course, my opinion here.

Had them on my 02, ride not so bad, cost of tire replacement was ridiculous. rubbing is not too bad, but bumps in road destroys the fenders ( i.e. wheel wells, paint cracks & so on). I settled on a nice set of black 18", smoother ride, tire cost cut in half. Your choice, but I wouldn't do it again.

thanks for the info guys...ill look for some smaller wheels...she isnt gonna be happy, she really wants these 20s now. LOL

Not necessarily, but in my experience the thinner the side profile of the tire, the less compliant the ride. Big difference? Perhaps. Could still be acceptable to your tastes however.
Where i live the roads are terrible - frost heaves, expansion joints, deep potholes ,etc. In order to get some decent protection for my aluminum wheels, I want a good amount of rubber between them and the road.

A guy in the JEC magazine was running his X with 20s..had to have the arches rolled/modified and uprated suspension.Ride VERY firm
Heres a pic
My XJ has Dunlops 255-35R20s and ride quite good (but it has got air suspension) but havent driven an XJ with smaller tyres to see how much better the ride would be.
