I don't think I'd worry about them blowing, I investigated the regular halogens that sylvania has in the cars and the coil inside/filament is way thicker than the ones in the silverstars, my 100watters, and the xenon brand bulbs i've tried. I think the problem comes from a surge when the starter requires some juice and the power ends up pulling it from everywhere and the lights get a surge. You can get certain things to protect the electrical when it comes to a surge, once I get closer to getting some I'll investigate some more. I'd go to a local radio shack or something like that to see what they have!
