RE: Ashtray lid will not stay closed
The side of the ashtray has a plastic peg that moves inside of a track to lock it closed, and then open the next time it is pushed. If that sticks, then it wont lock in the closed position. I would take it apart and clean the track and peg really well, and maybe hit it with some spray lubricant like WD-40. That should solve the problem for you.

WD is just kerosene... not good for plastic. I think the mechansim works best clean and dry..
Mine did the same thing. I took the ashtray out and just fiddled with it for a few mins and has worked for 6 months now....
could be a small piece of dirt or something got pushed out of position .. take a look it should be obvious..
