auto dim rearview mirror
Hello
I have a 2002 x type and the rearview mirror has never dimmed at night so I took it off and the "guts" were missing--just the rain sensor was plugged in (that works). So I bought a used one off ebay but the harness plug for the mirror is different--the one in the car is flat with five wires (black/green-black/orange-black/orange-black-black/orange) and the "new" one has a square plug (with old wires cut off) and they are 4 wires on top and 1 on bottom--top is white-white/blue-black-orange/yellow and bottom is blue/yellow.
Is this something that can be spliced or look for another relacement?
Cheers

I would try to splice it first, because those 5 wires probably do the same thing the old 5 wires do, they're just not in the right order. It might be a royal PITA to get the wires right though and it might be a better investment of your time to just buy another one off of ebay with the right harness.

The new mirror has metri-pac connectors (which I have for the lotus anyways) so it's no problem to hook up I was just wondering what the leads from the car are--the only wiring diagrams I can find show ground, power in, and reverse lamps but nothing about the other two (maybe temp and compass) who knows
