Automatic transmission slips out of gear
Hello, As I was driving my 2003 X Type last night home from work I was driving about 55 MPH and the road started to rise. So, i pressed the gas pedal to give more gas and my engine revved but it was like it was no longer attached to the transmission. After a few seconds of the the tranny was back and I kept on going. After i got to the top of the hill there was a stop light and i had the red. So, I stopped. When it was time to go I had lots of engine, But no transmission. But after like 30 seconds it kicked in and away I went. I had to stop several more times on my 23 mile journey home after that. And this did not happen again. Any ideas what it might be? I want to check the fluid level in the transmission. But the owners manual does not say where that dip stick is located.

Seems like a very common problem that you are having. There is no automatic transmission dipstick which is why a lot of these transmissions get so neglected. I recently read a thread that sounds like it could help you out however. Read it here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...esolved-78085/
What I would highly recommend is downloading the JTIS which is the jaguar repair manual. This manual will guide you through finding the fill plug, drain plug, and the "level check" plug under automatic transmission/general procedures/transmission fluid level check-transmission drain and fill
