Do the AUx solutions that plug into the CDC input not work on the X Type? Mine has the button on the head unit but no changer in the boot.

I've done that mod, it's excellent (so much that it'd be worth it to replace a CD player with the tape deck just for that mod). However, if you have satnav, the tape deck for that seems to be a rare find. Most on eBay are the non-satnav versions with the two modules, not sure if they can be separated.

If I remember correctly, it's some obscure proprietary optic network thing, so mostly no. The only one that works like that (at least of which I know of) in the X-Type is Jaguar's own ACM, the headunit sees that as a CDC, and it comes with a switch for choosing between CDC and ACM.

Ahhh gotcha. I guess the S Type doesn't have that? As I have found modules for the S Type that can just be plugged into the CDC input.

I'm not sure about that, but since the S-Type interior was updated some time after the X-Type was launched and the headunit became the same as in the X-Type (and X350/X358 XJ), it's likely that only S-Types with the early interior would be compatible with such those modules you speak of.

"Compatible with Jaguar S-Type with 9000 Europe Premium head-unit by Visteon."
That's the early S-Type headunit.

Default New method?

Hey there guys, I've been recently fiddling with my sound setup myself. I found that if you take a "aux to rca" cable cut off the rca ends and wire them in line with the speaker wires from the harness you'd get sound! But signal is very weak since an ipod/mp3/phone aux jack can't supply enough power to drive the speakers. I'm currently hunting down a cheap 4 channel amp to add more power and see if that works. If anybody has electrical knowledge to shed some light I need this, that would be beautiful

Default Aux cable

Hello I'm try to find out if the Jaguar 2008 XKR convertible would be able to use this kit you recommended me? And also see how it has been working for you this far.

The sound quality is akin to that off a new cars' HD Radio. Plus it comes as a kit and you can place the on/off switch and AUX input in the glovebox or center console, or even add a dedicated iPhone/iPod connector that can even charge the device as you play!

This is the exact one I bought at Best Buy (they could even install it for ya):
