AWD operation

I got a polite email back from Jaguar customer center telling my that my 04 AWD 2.5 station wagon does NOT have viscous coupling inside the transfer case
It doesn't have DSC either
tomorrow I am going to ask them how the AWD works in that case. However the only way it can work is that the car is permananently 4WD with no change in the allocation of power between the four wheels under any conditions
...... which is maybe better than viscous coupled? I have a older transfer box from an 02 which must be vc'd - should I try changing them over?? I know it will fit, but will it be better ??
opinions sought!

VC is better... it is a limited slip function for the centre diff.
the non-vc cars are not as good in the snow.
