Unhappy Awful noise in the engine (somewhere)

Just hoping that someone might know what this awful noise is....coming from the front of the engine near the 2 'intake' (?) things. Its been doing it on and off for a couple of years, but its doing it all the time now. The only way I can stop it is by adjusting the throttle cable (I think its that anyway). That only stops the noise until the next time I start the car.
Hoping I can upload the sound,
Caroline (Tasmania)

It sounds just like mine did when it had a miss, popping back through the air intake (air cleaner area). A good scanner will show the fault and the culprit cylinder. Probably a spark plug or coil fault, However, after I put my engine back together, I still had a miss sound and it was due to the hose from the intake manifold to the brake booster being off the intake.
