Default Battery replacement issue

I just had the pleasure of replacing the starter and battery on 04 3.0. My windows are not operating as they had before battery was replaced. The windows always went up with just a flip of the switch. Now I have to hold switch up until entire window is up. Could this issue be related to changing out battery?? Thanks for any advise

You just need to re-set the window function. Hold the window switch in the up position and hold about 3 or 4 seconds after the window comes to a stop. Do the same going down. Repeat for all windows (using the driver's switch pad) and you will reset the one-touch function.

Sometimes I have trouble with one of my rear windows as well. It will work. Try this - go all the way up and hold for 3 seconds after it is all the way up. Then let go, then hold it up again for 3 seconds and release.

If it still doesn't work, you can try the procedure and hold a little longer. If that doesn't work, something is probably screwed up.

The procedure is in the owners manual btw......

Everytime the battery is disconnected, the anti-trap part of the auto windows needs to be relearned.

all you need to do is roll the window up, and then hold the switch for a second or two, you should hear the motor stop trying to go up.

it works for all 4 windows the same way.

you do not need to do anything with the down direction.

Dont overcomplicate a simple procedure.

Is this guaranteed? I recently wired my X for an amp set up and my windows are still automatic without me having to do this.

My windows take turns ticking me off.
They all worked perfectly when we bought it. Then after the dealership replaced the battery non of them worked on one touch. Then just as out of the blue they started working again. Now they take turns now working. One thing is they all work the way they are supposed to from their individual switches. The problem seems to be in the drivers door master switch. Today they are all working except the right rear passenger.

Not sure if I understand your question, but if your XJ is anything like my X then it has a manual release button in the trunk itself, though the seats can only be opened from the trunk, so I'm not sure how you would reach it. Maybe call the service department at the dealership and ask them.

The right rear passenger is my problem child as well. Maybe they are in cahoots. Sometimes it will flare up and not work out of the blue.

Now, maybe this is just with my 2002 or the 2002 model year, I have to hold both up and down directons to get one-touch both ways. I've had to do it on numerous occasions and I know for sure that just up or just down does not reciprocate the one touch for the other directon. Again, maybe this is just my beast or the early X's.
