Default Battery X-Type

Can anyone tell me the correct group/Size battery for an '03 x-type 3.0 AWD? Any possible suggestions where to go?

rjs, I just bought a new battery for my X-Type (died in the parking lot of the parts store). I paid $102 for the battery that has slightly more CCA than the factory battery has. Dropped right in to the car. Granted, the new battery is about an inch shorter than the factory battery, but fits into the battery box just fine.

A few things that you want to look for in the battery are these:
-70 or 80 amp-hour rating
-atleast a 680 CCA rating
-Group 49 battery

You meet these three things and you should have something that will fit the bill for what you need.

I read somewhere that the Walmart Everstart Group 94R battery will fit. Just not sure about Walmart!!!
Is there a difference between 2003 & 2004 model batteries?

rjs, when it comes to batteries, all batteries are made by 1 of 3 companies in the US. The only difference between a $50 battery through say Walmart and a $400 battery through an over-priced store is the sticker on the outside of the box and the warrantee that they offer (the higher priced battery will have a longer warrantee normally). But, the physical battery is the same. So, if you can find one at Wally World, go for it.

I totally agree with Thermo on that one...I paid about 96 bucks for mine (3 year replacement warranty) and it's got better CCA than the factory default. The factory fitted battery really had me for a loop last winter where it cranked one minute and didn't the next. Purchased one from O-Reily's and was good to go. So as long as you get one that with the correct specs that would fit in the box, go for it even if it is at Wal-meezy!!!

I bought a new battery from Wal-Mart last January and it has been working fine. The form factor fit in perfectly and it came with a 3 year warranty.

Didn't worry much about the cold crank amps (cca) as I live in AZ.
