Best Bulb to match fogs to factory HID?
Hey Guys,
I have an 03 X-type with factory HID. I know the fogs are H1's, granted with the HID's the fogs don't really make much of a difference in terms of light output, but I would like to replace them with a different bulb that is a closer match to the hid bulb, mostly for asthetics. Anyone haveany good experiences with any particular type of bulb? How are the silverstars? I don't really need or care for really high wattage bulbs etc...
Thanks in advance,
George

Hey there androulakis, I have the silverstars for mine and they are a little brighter I guess. I'll have to get a picture of it for you. Without getting hid's it'd be hard to match the colors up. You ever think about getting the more yellow lights instead of blue. My buddy has a 03 bonneville and he bought these lights for his car and they look sweet, different angles they look rainbowish they are sweet though. He has hid's in his headlight so they offset each other well! I'll try to find some pics for ya. By the way he bought them on ebay for like $50.

Hey there xtype750 you guys should have a walmart down there in florida right? I got the lights at walmart and they are just the w5w lights. Don't actually know if they are w5w (I think they were though) but I just took the bulb from the car and compared them to the ones in the store they had. Don't worry they won't have but one option for you. I do remember though that they were xenon brand lights, nothing special just xenon is the company that packages it. They have them on ebay, but i'd try wal-mart. They look cool on the picture but they really don't show up in the day. I'll be replacing my foglights with these new 100w bulbs I bought for my main headlight. They are super white and they look so much drastically different than the stock halogens and even the sylvania silverstars I paid twice the amount for. These were only $20, I'll get back to you all on the manufacturer of them.

I found some193 bulbs in blue that work pretty well as a w5w replacement. The Blue is a nice buish HID look. The brand I bought was APC.
As for the HID's I bought them off a guy on TampaRacing.com (local to me). He's selling the kits ready to go for $130. I bought the 8000K kit. I'll get pics later on this evening.

Hey man they also have alot of similar ones on ebay, I'd personally try the 4-led lights on ebay because I bet they put out more light. Even the stock bulbs put out more light than my blue ones. Let me know either way.

Fog lights aren't hard you just have to have (i think) was a phillips screw driver and you unscrew the plastic covering the underneath of the front and than they are right up in there. The front headlights aren't bad at all. Honestly though if you don't want to do it over and over and over again DO NOT GO WITH SILVERSTARS IN YOUR DIMS! I put 3-4 different pairs of silverstars in my regular headlights and they don't last for a couple of days and for some reason they blow. I have pretty much tried every single bulb they have out as far as halogens go and NONE of them worked for longer than a month before I had to replace them. The only lights that don't blow are regular sylvania halogens or regular bulbs. When you look at the stock (regular sylvania halogen bulbs) bulbs they have a thicker filament than the others, this is my only guess as to why they blow. I am telling you this and there are a handful of others that can also confirm! I'd go hid if you want something other than regular yellow or blue halogens. By the way after I blew all of those bulbs and advance auto exchanged them for new ones I decided to just put silverstars in and they've been in since September/October with no problems. Never changed the blinkers! I'd imagine its not much worse than the regular bulbs...

Here's link to one of the many discussion we've had! I'll try to find the one where we explain step by step installation of the headlight bulb...
