Default best option for a damaged alternator replacement

Hello good fellows forum x-type members, please help me sharing, if you have, your experience with an alternator replacement problem.
As my 2007 x-type alternator suddenly died this week in heavy smoke and deafening grinding squeak noises, I am looking for a replacement. Besides the super-expensive original C2S3710 OEM's that I cannot afford, which one I should choose: (1) a used unknown in mileage and itself God knows how deceased junk yard one, (2) an aftermarket brand new made specified as a C2S3710 replacement, (3) an aftermarket rebuilt one, or (4) an aftermarket remanufactured/refurbished one?
Thank you so much and best wishes for your, and your x-type babies, good health
Marcela
PS My car has only 84,600 miles

Good and mysteriously explained news: Today Mona (my x type baby) started smiling quietly at me, a smooth iddle with no noise nor smoke.
And, of course, no need for an alternator replacement. Deep, Good blessed mystery...
Good wishes to all,
M&M (Marcela & Mona)

Hello. I recently Purchased a Replacement alternator from OEG Parts on eBay several weeks ago for my 2002 X type with 98,000 miles, for $116.95. It has been functioning perfectly for the last three weeks without any issues or codes. Hope this helps, Mike

Hi, Mike,
Is your alternator's name "OEG Parts" (I did not find any OEG Parts website)? Besides eBay (which I never use) do you have any additional location or name of your alternator? Anything written on it? And is it a new? rebuilt? remanufactured? Or... used part?
Thanks.

Sorry, I found the oeg parts but, as you said, only on e-bay, which I do not use. And yes, the alternator (which they list at 117.95) is new. As meantime I also found several new replacement alternators on a couple of other sites, such as db electrical and rareelectrical for ex and I even spoke with a mechanic about such replacements and all he told me about such replacements to look for was the length of its warranty but, as I said this morning my car's alternator was mysteriously perfectly ok. Anyway, good to know.

Thank you VTGBoss. Can you also tell me, what power should I look for when deciding a replacement alternator: 100amp or 120 amp?

Unless you have added accessories that draw additional power, I would go with the same amperage as the original. If you use your AC all the time then maybe a larger one and by this I mean cooling the car, I leave my AC on all the time and only kicks in when needed and in the Winter it helps defogging the windshield and windows.

marcela, because of all the electrics in the X-Type (heated seats, rear defroster, A/C, etc), going with the 120 amp alternator is going to be preferred. It is my understanding that the X-type was also fitted from the factory with a 120 amp alternator. The 100 amp unit is for diesel cars as their motors require less electrical. The manual I have from jaguar to repair the X-Type also states that the gasoline engined cars have a 120 amp alternator from the factory.

Thousand thanks, good Thermo.
I would bother you also with another question after I go again to PA next week to check a white sheet of paper that I left under Mona's right side of her engine compartment because the white gravel that she is parked on seemed this morning having some beige spots.
