oospc, springs are only part of the answer to the cornering that you are looking for. You can probably keep your current springs and simply upgrade to a larger diameter sway bar. By doing this you will have the same ride that you currently do when cruising the highways, but when you start tossing the car around corners, the larger sway bar is going to transfer more force to the inside tires, improving your cornering properties. Stiffer springs will help, but also result in the harsher ride.
One note, if you upgrade the rear sway bar, it is advisable to have the mounts upgraded by having more structural support added as some members have noted their stock swaybars breaking the swaybar mounts.

So, Thermo, are you aware of anyone who MAKES a larger sway bar for the X-type?

Mcjaguar, I don't know of a company that does, but then, I have also not looked. Due to the mounting points, as long as you can find one that is the same width and is set back the same amount, should be easy to adapt. The connecting points to the lower A-arms is pretty universal (both straight though). So, making something to work would be really easy.
