Hi everybody,
I have the same issue (blank screen 50/51 fault codes) on the 2001 X-Type 3,0 V6 of a friend of mine.
Tried to burn and install a loading.kwi (2011) I found in this thread but nothing happened. Even rebooting with the original Navi CD brought no success.
Is there another loading.kwi I could try? Maybe an older one than the 2011?
Thx to all of you
Didi

Here is a link to the unziped file ready to burn to a disk.
If this does not work for you chances are the DVD unit has gone bad or you have a wiring issue.

OMG !! I made a complete idiot of myself. I was looking through the hidden menu in my touch screen and pressed the s/w button and now have a blank black screen and the fan going nuts. The link here to the loading.kwi I have burned to a standard dvd and put it into the dvd reader in car, turned off ignition and turned it back on again but still flashing 50.51. The link is only 7mgb in size which seems a bit small. Can someone please tell me what am doing wrong and give me the proper software for my 2004 x type.
Thanks you to everybody from a **** touchscreen breaker.

Hi. from what I have read on here and various other threads if all was working before you pressed the update button you can't damage any of the hardware only the software as you have interrupted the update process and all the settings are lost. The only way to get it back is to reinstall the firmware which I am not having much luck with doing. I have ordered a new map disc with latest firmware update and hope this work.
Thanks
Thanks

The dvd is to big to email but I can take the loading.kwi off it and send you that. You need to burn it to a DVD - disc as the + ones don't seem to work.

It would be nice if someone could either put a little video together of how to do this whole process from start to finish (including the DVD-R burning, what software used, where to get the relevant .kwi file how to burn it and then re-installing in the jag).
This is definitely one of those How To's that's needed.

hey folks thanks in advance and the NAV screen is dead on my S type R 06 and been trying a few things.... I've got C1, 50, 51 messages too.
Checked the fuse (all good)
Battery reset
Removed the dvd and dvd unit to try and reset things. It won't eject and actually doesn't seem to turn on or do anything.
I can go through the diagnostics on the screen and all the buttons will work...
Thinking I'll try to replace the DVD player unit itself first.
seems like a rather common issue however just wondering if anyone has had their DVD player unit go bad? I'm guessing it's the actual nav DVD unit in the trunk? The DVD won't load or eject..
Hence the option of software update via a DVD won't work? Seems like a dead unit so I guess I'll try a replacement one first... Hoping that's all it is. Hottest day of the year in California and although I can live without a nav it'd be nice to have AC

Hey Alex
Did you do anything to make the screen go blank like press update in the secret menu. Usually when it goes dead for no apparent reason its usually the dvd player that dies and with it all touch screen and heater controls with fan going to full pelt. A few things to check. Firstly get someone to switch ignition on when you have your ear to the dvd player and listen to hear if it is doing anything at all. If nothing is heard then check the fuses to the touch screen and dvd player not with your eye but use a continuity meter if you have one on the fuses you remove to check them. If all checks out then suspect the dvd player. You say you can't remove disc which is a pity cause if you could take the disc to your pc and have a look at the files on the dvd and see if there is a .KWI file there as that's the software to work the touch screen. There are other checks but these are the basic ones. Hope this helps
