I'm with you fellas. I'm pinging here in hopes that the software fix is still floating out there.
I have removed my black box from the car (2R83 10E887 AB), opened the unit, and found nothing obviously amiss. I'd really like to know if this thing is "bad" or not....if there is a potential software upgrade to address the black screen 50/51, defrost default, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just to let you know that mine is now fixed. Fortunately it was not a fault with the DVD player but I had no choice but to let Jaguar do the necessary software upgrade for around Ģ110 plus VAT, as no one came forward with free software.

My experience was the same as Essexes.
Software update for the DVD/Navi operating system at the dealer cost me $53 ( .5 hrs)- which I plan to ask some questions on, as I feel this should've been done during the diagnostic hour I was previously charged, as the TSB's indicate updating the software is the first thing to do, before continuing diagnostics....
I did not get a hardcopy of the system update. Sorry fellas.

x type: blank screen after downloading dvd map europe 2010
Hi at all,
I've same problem that happenede to solidx and others users with my navigation system (x-type 2005):
After downloading new map 2010/2011 (aftermarket bought), done with ignition on and nav on (previous map 2003 dvd was extracted without turn off ignition and nav system) the screen began black and climate, telephone, audio cd doesn't work in the same time.
After hours of search in internet, I went in this thread and red the same problems happened to others users.
I need the sftware setup, because the system doesn't work nothing after hard reset (pushing simultaneously telephone and menu buttons) and removing battery load for a few minutes...

I Am a new member and have the same issues as most in this thread,nav screen blank,hvac only blows out defrost.buttons arround screen do not light up and codes 50 & 51 found that another 03 x type owner was able to reboot thiers via a file durned to dvd is this file still out there and could you send it to me to see if it reboots mine
This file in less 6 MB and isn't loading.kwi!

I FOUND ON EBAY A SELLER THAT POSTED ME A SEQUENCE TO REEBOT THE GPS DENSO SYSTEM!!!
I't is in Italian but is very simply procedure!!!

Factory Jag/Solidx - guys if you could help me out with a question about the correct sequence. I found maps 2010 ~6GB however not sure if I need the SW update before the NavTeq Maps update? Please confirm and if I need the SW my mail is filip.tsachev@gmail.com.
Interesting to know what is this software update part number if any also what would be the correct Maps DVD latest part number for 2002 X type?
I found this id for 2006 maps which are somewhat confirmed to work for my unit:

I have the same problem with my 2001 X-type 2.5 V6. I put an update DVD in the unit and the system crashed. Now nothing works anymore. In Holland it is very hard to get the information. Most dealer donīt even know it excists!

One of the main dealers in Holland could reinstall the software, so everything is working again
