bluethooth on a 56 reg x type

Do you have the phone module? Not that many X-Types had that option, although there is a phone button in all the cars. When you press the phone button does something like "Mo Phone" come up in the display? If so, you do not have it. The module can be retrofitted, but they are hard to find and pretty expensive. I can't tell you if that specific phone would work.

If the entertainment system is Bluetooth capable, simply try to pair your phone to the system. If the current entertainment system is not Bluetooth capable, you can replace your radio/tape/cd, etc with one that is and purchase a steering column control adapter for your new system (make sure that it is Jaguar X Type compatible).
I replaced my old Radio/Tape system with a Jensen GPS/Bluetooth system, along with all of the X Type specific electrical, speaker, steering column, antenna harnesses and simply ran a hands-free phone input microphone from the radio, under the dash and up the driver's side window molding to a spot close to my head. When I push the "Telephone" button on the steering column, the system mutes the radio and dial phone screen pops up on my entertainment system.
