drossy: I assume you have a vacuum leak in the black and grey check valve in the middle of the brake booster line. It's a common problem: age and engine heat cause the plastic check valve to become chalky and brittle.

The part, C2S 17552 or C2S17552, is on eBay for ~$29 with S&H. Here's one example: New Brake Booster Vacuum Hose One Way Valve Assembly for 0 2 07 Jaguar x Type | eBay
You can replace it yourself in ~15 minutes without any special tools. To unplug it from the intake manifold, press down on the retaining ring around the connector, then pull up on the connector. To unplug it from the brake booster, simply pull the connector out of the rubber grommet in the booster. Reverse the process to install the new vacuum line.
As a quick, temporary fix, and to confirm the old check valve is leaking, coat the check valve with black RTV silicone and wrap it with a small piece of aluminum foil before the silicone cures. If the engine now idles and runs smoother, you have confirmed the leaky check valve is the culprit. Here's a picture of a patched check valve: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...5/#post1232066
Last step: Enjoy a nice steak dinner with the ~$150 you saved!
