Default Brake booster pipe

Hi I am about to replace the brake booster pipe on my diesel. That's the pipe with a none return valve which runs from the vac pump to the booster. Is this pipe just a push fit both ends? I have tried and cant just pull either end off. Is there a knack? Thanks..

Not sure if it is the same on the diesel, I have the 3.0L. On mine the end on the brake booster pulls out, it is slide fit of the hard plastic vacuum line into a rubber grommet on the booster. It takes considerable wiggling to come out. Easier when it is warm because the rubber on the brake booster is softer when it is warm. The end connecting to the manifold is a push lock, put a little pressure on the tube like you are pushing it into the intake manifold then use a small flat head screwdriver to hold the retaining ring down and in theory the vacuum hose simply pulls out. To reconnect just push it in until you hear or feel it click into place.

The theory didn't work with mine, the retaining ring was frozen so I had to break it by prying it up with a screwdriver. PITA. In retrospect I should have cut the hose and then mended it with heat shrink or generic vacuum hose.

If it's a black hose going down into the intake and where it meets the intake is slotting into a black grommet with a sliver of brass visible around the perimeter next to the aluminum of the intake then it's the normal setup.

In that case (and I'm rephrasing the first suggestion having just done this on mine (also not a diesel though) - Use a small flathead to push slightly down on the black grommet right at the edge where it meets the tube you are trying to remove. Push down on that area in any spot, and then while you are doing that pull up gently on the tube. If everything is well it will come apart quite easily.

If all is not well and sort of frozen together then you might want to order the bushing kit now to have on hand - part# C2S15816 - there is a chance you will break the black grommet part and the O-ring at the bottom of the brass fitting is probably hard and possibly broken and/or missing down the intake and in need of replacement. The brass stays in place at all times.

If yours is in fact different then sorry, I guess we'll have to wait for someone else!

Thanks again but I fear you are talking about a petrol engine. Totally different to the diesel.

On the diesel, the vac pump has a collar between pipe and body of pump, you need to press down the collar and pull the pipe out, (whilst holding the collar down).
