Default Bushing Question

I have a chirp coming from the rear passenger side of the cabin. I had a thread about it and the feedback was that it might be a bushing.
To get the dealership to notice might be hard cause it's super bad when it's cold but more faint when it's warmer or wet out. Is there a way I could just spray some lithium grease or something to keep it quiet??? Not sure if it would be an area I could reach with some spray.

Thanks guys.

Have you tried to lube the parking brake cable? It can make that type of noise that comes from that area. Lube the rubber grommet the cable rides in with lithium grease.

I've not tried that. Interesting, I'll see if that works.

When I push and make that right rear shock compress and release while standing outside of the car, I don't hear anything.

I'll look into that tonight.

my car does the same thing. its the weather stripping on the doors. just go out and push your doors back and forth fast while closed and you will see what i am talking about.

also could be the "cone" inside the rear spring. My 03 did that.

Last night I sprayed some lithium grease underneath on the rubber grommet where the brake line goes through, also sprayed the top of the spring as well. REally just blasted the underside with that stuff. Didn't notice the noise the morning, maybe that worked.

i hope it did. if it comes back try something that will help you find out what it is, Jack the car up. if it is coming from the passenger side then get a floor jack and raise the passenger side off the ground. then lower the car and drive. if the sound is gone then it is that cone thing in the spring. if the jack thing works don't get too happy... the sound will come back.

Thanks for the hints. Hopefully the grease did the trick. I'll see if it's truly gone and if not I'll try the spring suggestion.

I bet it was the cable. Grease should work for a year or two before it comes back.

Vegas, by cone thing you are referring to the bump stop?

I just had a lower link, (the one that usually wears and knocs..) get squeaky. It was the swivel end of the link. I took the link off, and pulled back the rubber boots and added a little more grease then put the boots back. I had changed those links less than a year ago ( great quality )
I also had a long standing mild rattle, that was finally solved by new rear sway bar end links. At the time I did them the sway bar bushings were still loose, even though they were also less than a year old. The actual bar was a little worn, So i got some thin plastic pipe, and put a piece around the bar, making the sway bar tight again.

For the first time in ages.. the rear of the car is great. ( well as great as it can be )

Of course when everything works on the Jag, you are guaranteed a new problem withing days.. (or hours) And the next day, I had to pull my starter motor.. but this week is starting off all systems go.

I would caution everyone against jumping to conclusions on these cars. There are typical things. But any car can have a problem anywhere.

I agree with the simple stuff.... but If there is a sqeak, you need to be able to reproduce it before spraying grease all over the place. It makes a mess and that makes the next guy angry when he has to work around that mess.
