Default A/C temp readings

On a 95 degree day sitting at idle I get 58 degree air temps from the middle vent. Cruising down the interstate I see 40 degree temps. Curious what others are seeing in comparable temps.
Humidity is 70 plus percent.

I did that many years ago. I now have a new compressor, new condenser, new drier/accumulator and new orifice. The system was drawn down with a vacuum and recharged by weight.

Hi Mr rx-7 tt,

Are you unhappy with your A/C performance? In general, a mobile air conditioning system is considered to be performing properly and well when the dash vent air temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the ambient air temperature with the vehicle stationary and engine at idle. At extremely hot ambient temps, we don't expect a 40-degree differential, but something less, like your 37-degree differential.

You get lower vent temperatures while cruising at interstate speeds due to the increased air flow through the condenser and resulting improved heat transfer.

You might be able to improve your temps at idle by cleaning the space between the condenser and radiator and confirming that your electric fan is operating properly, but 58 deg. F in the ambient temps and humidity you describe is pretty good performance.

Cheers,

Don

Is the under tray in place? Is all the foam still around the radiator? Are the fans working properly ? Any of these can cause problems with airflow

I pretty much suspected that thanks for your feedback. For some reason the the A/C in the Jag has never been up to par for me. Part of that is the orifice design versus a metering valve.
In my E55 the other day it was a 103 degrees and the car was blowing 30 degree air driving down the interstate.
