C2S5302 vs C2S43484 a/c condenser
Hello, I own 2002 Jaguar X-type 2.5L RHD and I need a new a/c condenser.
The original part number for this model should be C2S5302 but is not available anymore from Jaguar so I wrote to Jaguar and they said that C2S5302 has been superseded by C2S43484.
I ordered the new condenser (C2S43484) and I noticed that the original condenser (C2S5302) has an extra welded pipe and the new condenser (C2S43484) does not have the pipe (see photos).Does anyone know what was the purpose of the extra pipe on the C2S5302 and why Jaguar did not use it for C2S43484?
Has anyone come across this difference? Can I still use the new condenser since it does not have the pipe? Does this affect the coldness of the air-conditioning in any way?
Any help with be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

It looks like the 2 have the same hose connections to the outside world in the same locations so won't have any difference in performance.
If you look up a 2002 Ford Mondeo condenser 1671713 you will see it looks like your Jag C2S5302 but without the extra tube welded on the side. The Mondeo was selling hundreds of thousands of units per year at the time our X-Types were being designed so they tried to commonize parts. Some cost engineers (yes, that is a real job title in auto companies) at Ford/Jag/Visteon did the math and decided it was cheaper to make 300,000 condensers the same way through 95% of the manufacturing process and then weld a different outlet connector on 100,000 that get sent to Jag. Now that parts are service only and past the required time for the original supplier to maintain inventory the manufacturing volume is tiny so the economics are different.
