Not sure if it's a direct plug and play, but you can buy the radio with CD on E-Bay for probably less than $100. I'm sure someone will chime in whether or not that is the case.
I never knew a cassette was standard in '02. Hard to believe, but there are a lot of things not standard that you would expect, like heated seats or a sunroof.

Yeah, those two buttons on either side of the e-flasher are teh heated seats.
The reason there is a cd button is for uniformity. All are the same even if you do not have that feature. Just like the phone icon button. Button is on there even if you don't have Jaguar Voice.

Actually, the cassette player was an OPTION for the 2002. Standard was a cd player. The intent of the cassette player was that you would also buy the 6 disc changer for the trunk.
Therefore, I'd suggest you attempt to locate a factory 6 disc cd changer. You may need the dealer to do a little programming after you install it however.
I have an FM modulator cd changer in the trunk. Works ok, but not fantastic, stock version would be a better way to go.
I use the cassette with my IPOD and the sound quality is quite good, fwiw. Pretty much any cassette adapter will work fine, I have a Belkin and a Phillips and both work fine.
