CAR MEET?
Has anyone noticed how there are zero car meets for jaguars. Id really like to see other poeples cars and get to know more people that are in to Jags too. Any chance people here on the forum would want to have a meet in SoCal or Cali in general? I just thought this wud be a good idea, cos i just went to a euro meet on Monday and there were some beautiful cars there, just no jags.

RE: CAR MEET?
I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, just with the people here in South Florida! It would be nice to meet a few of you, but unlike my Nissan 240sx forum, most of the people here are spread out across the Country and even overseas! Every time I go to my Nissan meets I wonder how cool it would be for an bunch of Snotty Jag owners to get together! I admit it, we're a little snotty!

RE: CAR MEET?
Pity you guys arent over here. There is a Jag meet at the Queens cousins stately home at Harewood House, Harrogate (UK) in July with 4500 Jags expected. There were 1000s last time I went. Then in Aug we are having our Jag clubs northern meet at Wallington Hall (Northumberland). Some other forums have meets every now and again (probably easier iver here though).

RE: CAR MEET?
I just went to a general car meet yesterday, the turn out wasnt too bad, about 30 odd cars. But the cars that were there were quite disappointing. There were about 10 acura RSX's, a couple integras, about 4-5 scion TCs, 2 is300's, an Evo, S2K, and a few other hondas. The only european cars that were there was mine and an 07 BMW X5. No if ony it was the other way round, 2 japanese cars, and about 25 euros.

What you don't pay attention to cars from the 80's??? I wasn't but 5 when the 90's hit and knew nothing about cars...you've never noticed how cars stopped having hood ornaments in the late 80's and early 90's and now jag, mercedes and rolls are the only with them??? Hood emblems/ornaments...now cars have badges instead. Like we have the little jag badge on the grill as well as the leaper???
Found this kind of interesting and they mention jag!

RE: CAR MEET?
OOOOHHH here's an even better one! I cannot believe you were serious about pedestrian safety! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! Pretty much you get hit by a car pretty good there's a pretty good chance THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LIVE WITH OR WITHOUT OUR LEAPERS! WTF? Can't believe you were serious!
I think mercury on the grand marquis is one of the only american cars now that have a ornament on them???

RE: CAR MEET?
It's funny how in the second link you posted, they said this:
"Rolls-Royce's signature "Spirit of Ecstasy" is still part of all its cars, but it automatically retracts turtlelike into the famous chrome radiator if a sensor detects a collision."
...Right, like their ornament is going to retract in time from the moment it hits the pedestrian, to the time where 1/100th of a second later the person is already where the hood ornament is going to be? I'm not sure I'm making sense, but if a rolls royce hits someone, the time it takes for the hood ornament to sink into the radiator is not enough for it to miss whoever it hit.

RE: CAR MEET?
Yeah the link had this "Thoughts of what might occur to a pedestrian who was unfortunate enough to find themselves in the path of a moving vehicle never entered their minds. One of the inevitable features of any car design was a hood ornament."
Not to mention
"Jaguars had leaping cats"
I can't believe that the ornament is actually a hazard for pedestrians! Pretty much if you get hit by a car your pretty much not going to be feeling good either way!

RE: CAR MEET?
Yeah, but don't you think a pedestrian would feel much better knowing that a leaping jaguar isn't going to shove into their rib or back or whatever? I think that if the front end of the car hits me and the car is going like 10 MPH, I know it'll hurt, but it'll hurt more with a Jag up my ***. That I don't approve of, but my leaper is staying on!

RE: CAR MEET?
You'd have to hit them squarely in the middle of the car to feel it up the butt...at 10mph i'd hope you could stop before they got to the middle of the car...if they were riding a bike they'd end up in your windshield totally avoiding your leaper! On second thought lets not think about this whole hitting people I think its starting to freak me out!
