Default Changed My Plugs Yesterday

I changed out my plugs and Seafoamed my X-type yesterday afternoon. I can already tell a huge difference in throttle response, acceleration, and fuel economy. Planning on doing the fuel filter this week as well. The upper and lower intake gaskets had been changed out the day before I got this car, so they were in good shape (not sure why they didn't change the plugs while they were in there).

Take a look at the old plugs. Any guess as to how old they might be? Car is at 140k miles.

Well, considering that the plugs you pulled out at Autolights, they may have been done at the same time as the gaskets. Otherwise, based on the gap, not too old. I would estimate about 70K miles or so. Seen worse, but have also seen better.

Thanks, Thermo. Gaskets were done about 3k miles ago. Haven't owned the car very long.

Ccash I have always wanted to seafoam my xtype, but I've been way to hesitant to go through with it. Did you just put some through the brake booster hose and some in the oil and then the rest in the tank? Also, did the seafoam drastically improve the performance?

Disguay - this was my first time using Seafoam in anything besides the fuel tank. Based on recommendations I put 1/3 in the fuel tank, 1/3 in the crankcase, and 1/3 through the brake booster hose. I should have driven it after changing the plugs (before Seafoam) to see what difference it made alone, but I did everything at the same time. So, I can basically say that after Seafoam and new plugs the car has much better throttle response, a little better fuel economy, and seemingly more power during acceleration. I'm not sure what's attributable to what.

If you put Seafoam in the crankcase, be sure to change your oil soon, preferably within a couple hundred miles.
