Hard to recommend if we dont know even what country you are in... I think it is Canada> I got one at Parts Source that is run by Canadian Tire. there is usually one on sale somewhere every week, at one place or another. I would budget 150 dollars in Canada for one that will work well. The cheapest ones only read the emissions related codes, others can read other area codes too.

deals are different everywhere.

Mine turned on today too, temp was 58° today, down from the usual 76°. Crud, guess it's time to break down and buy a reader, since Autozone doesnt lend them anymore.

Went to napa, they want a 124 bucks ( canadain) for it, and there not sure if it reads the iso 914.. protocaol, real bul**** actaully. SHould i just get it and try it??

And on another note, i called and booked the car in for a oil change this tursday, and the guy who works on our cars want 108 bucks, and he giave me reasons not to buy a obd2 reader, so what do i do, i told him i would pay it and get it scanned, but i need a seconds opinion??

He said, " it could be a fuel mixture problem, and usally the code tell the converter's O2 sensor to send a warning to not damdage the convert" and im like okay, go along witht he guy> Frankly don't know mucha bout engine repair and stuff like that, so am i get screwed ???

Disco, you can not hurt your car by simply plugging in one of these OBD-II scanners. The only way that I can even imagine something like that happening is you grabbing it by the end of the cord and using it like a ball and chain. Don't see you doing that. Look on e-bay and pick one up there. Worst case, give Harbor Freight a call and see what they can do for you.

NOw, I will admit that if you start just going in ***** nilly and replacing parts, you can do more damage than good. But that is why you have us here. Someone has seen your problem before and can give you guidance on what was done to fix their car.
