Default Check engine light with P0174, P0301, P0305 & P01316

2002 X Type Sport, manual, 2.5, 158,000 miles

Car ran fine until temperature dropped below 50 degrees. Now has P0174, P0305, P0301 & P1316 codes. Runs good, but goes in and out of limp mode. No rough running or rough idle. Only symptoms are codes and limp mode, and accompanying 3000 rpm limp mode cutoff.

Replaced knock sensor, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and spark plugs 9 months ago. Noticed oil leaking from valve cover for Bank 1 (cylinders 1,3&5). Oil observed on top of plugs. Did not have new valve cover gaskets and had to get car back together to use. Did not replace valve cover gaskets. Ran fine with no codes until recently.

Would oil leak cause various codes as a result of arcing and misfiring. Any thoughts on temperature drop and coincidence of codes. I don't want to pull intake manifold and replace valve cover gaskets and spark plug boss seals unless absolutely necessary.

I would also appreciate advice on how to test IMT O-rings. Sprayed starter fluid to check for leaks with no impact.

Thanks

Racer X, from the sounds of things, I would start with checking plugs 1 and 5 for oil in the coils. Unfortunately, those 2 are on the fun side of the engine to access. I would venture to guess that atleast the P0301, P0305, and the P1316 codes are all due to oil. Since you are in there, probably not a bad idea to also pull atleast 1 of the plugs and make sure that the gap is still good.

As for testing the IMT o-rings, you did what I would recommend. I would also say to check your PCV hose to make sure you don't have an issue there. I would also take a little bit of starter fluid and spray the vacuum line coming off the top of the intake that runs over to the brake booster. A few members have had issues with that developing a leak and leading to random problems.
