Smile Chrome mirror covers

My daughter got me a pair of reaview mirror covers for my X type. It is way too cold to mount them, however I test fitted them and used some clear tape to see what they look life. Terrific But I am going to have to wait until the weather warms up or we get temps in the 50's to mount them.

Also I'd like to wish all my forum friends a Happy, Healthy New Year, ( at least until 12.21.12) God knows what is going to happen then. and

Don't drink and drive, I want you all back here on Monday.

Smile Chrome

Talking about chrome. Over the weekend the BBC (US) had a Top Gear marathon. The top 50 stunts from the show. One of the stunts was skiing down hill in an X type. The car was red and had no chrome on it at all, nothing, now that I think about it there was no leaper on the car either. I know Jaguar stopped the leaper later in production. but IMHO the leaper is Jaguar and should be there on the hood. The Grille was body color except for the inserts which were black. The car looked sharp I have to admit. Is this the way they were sold outside the USA? Us Yankees always like chrome you know.

You should be right , XJRs also come with chrome door pillars whereas EU versions have black pillars .
I agree, leaper is not just an ornament ,it's identity to the brand

We don't get leapers on the X in the UK...

But we can get ones with some chrome shiny bits!
(I personally like some but not too much)

The Leaper is a icon of Jaguar and should be on all, even the new ones. If I had the means to buy a new Jaguar, I would pay the dealer to put a leaper on the hood. Nice ride, really nice ride, enjoy. But no leaper. Car looks naked.

Hi Jeremy I am Adam. I am probably quite a bit older than you, back in my day, chrome was the thing on US cars. My late Dad owned a 57 or 58 Buick Skylark, which had so much chrome, you saw the chrome more then the paint.
But I am stopping with the chrome mirror covers, as you and some other say, too much can be unattractive.

One thing I would like in chrome is vent covers, I had them in my Benz and it really did a lot for the interior. The interior of the X is kinda dull and nice chrome inserts on the fins of the vents would be nice, IMHO. But I haven't found any and doubt I will. Some Ebay sellers sell strips of chrome they say you can put on the fins, but that is too much work for me. Also, something to cover that indent between the front dash and the top in each corner, looks very unfinished to me.

PS Snow tomorrow and Thursday here in Western Ma.

Adam- With the high temps on Saturday, I'm surprised you didn't write in saying you got the mirror covers installed! You can keep the snow!
