Default Chrome window surrounds milky appearance

I know they are plastic and not real chrome, they've got a milky appearance , anyone know of a way of bringing back the shine and chrome look to them or is it going to be a case of buying a new set of ?

Try some metal polish or T cut. As you say the surrounds are plastic but it seems to work.
