Default Clicking AC Compressor

The AC compressor on my 2003 was beginning to make a loud clicking noise when it was running. I added some AC lubricant and it has reduced the noise to an amost inaudible level. It seems there was insufficient lubrication to keep the compressor valves quiet.

What I've learned is that when the A/C clutch makes that clicking noise a lot, the refrigerant is low in the A/C system. In fact, I just paid close to a $1,000 to have my A/C compressor and other necessary parts replaced due to a leak in the compressor on my Mustang GT. Of course, it happened about a month after the extended warranty expired.

I would have the A/C system checked out. If this is the first time, you may want to have the system recharged and have dye put in so you'll see where it's leaking from next time.

Good Luck!

The clicking is not the clutch, it is a continuous clicking when the compressor is RUNNING. I did check the refrigerant in my system and it's fine. Aside from the noise the system works as it should. You can spend $1,000 if you like, I don't need to.

That's good. Hope your issue is something simple.
