Clutch Job = WOW!!!!

RE: Clutch Job = WOW!!!!
Hmm, that seems a bit odd to me. When the clutch was on its absolute last leg, it was impossible to stall it and I'd have the pedal nearly all the way out before it'd feel it engage. That was with a bad pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel.
It is opposite day or something???

Ya seems like that !
the clutch disengages when you push it. engages when you lift off the pedal. everyone knows this. When the clutch gets to be worn.. it wont engage any more.. no matter how far you lift your foot up towards you. the process is gradual but for sure when it it worn out the pedal is up all the way and the is no go....
that being said the clutch on the X is hyraulic and therefore self adjusting. as the clutch wears, the engagement point should not change much at all. only during the final bit of life of the clutch will the engagement point move up in the travel of the pedal.
If your clutch is engaging very close to the floor. I would take it back andhave them re-bleed it. seems like you might have some air in it.

Agreed, either it sounds like some air in the system or does the clutch pedal have any mechanical adjustment?
I know on my Porsche it uses a turnbuckle adjustment from the pedal that inturn pushes on the clutch master cylinder piston. And when I changed clutches in it the pedal had to be adjusted.

there is no mechanical adjustment on the clutch.
I changed my brake fluid recently and decided to bleed the cluth at the end. I was low in fluid in my pressure bleeder but I thought I had enough.
I ended up pumping a ton of air into the clutch system and I was worried I would have a terrible time to get the air out.
I was being cheap and did not want to open my second litre of brake fluid... hahaha.
when the system has air in it the helper spring on the pedal (under the dash) pulls the pedal down to the floor. I did not notice it right away. I refilled the pressure bleeder and opened the bleeder on the clutch and the fluid came without bubbles after a couple of seconds. That is when i found the pedal to the floor, I ended up unscrewing the spring, and doing the bleeding again, I never saw any more bubbles so I dont know if that was needed or not. My clutch has been fine and engages as it always did.

Before the clutch was replaced, everything was fooooked. The tranny was the only part that survived the ordeal.
