Codes codes and codes
Hi all,
I am a new member, so I hope you are a friendly bunch
My problem is. A couple of weeks ago I almost crashed on the M25, basically I missed the central reservation by inches, to cut it short I ended up on the hard shoulder with car stuck in park, had to drag it on the low loader and all that.
Now the car is telling me gearbox failure, it wont double lock, bizarrely the windows will not open and the codes I had from the reader are. P1000, P1388, P1643, P1699, P1388, P0560.
So it's still a mint car for a 2001, but I'm thinking ££££££££
Do I scrap or repair??
Thanks in advance

P1000 : http://www.bluejag.co.uk/diagnosticcodeP1000.php
Hi Bassman, P1000 usually means the system hasn't fully reset, after you have fixed the items, and restarted the car 5 times, it should dissapear, no worries there!
Jaguar Check Engine Light DTC Trouble Codes
The above link will solve a few issues after a search for these faults.
Hang in there, I am hoping these are all addressable faults and it doesn't hurt too much!!
Once you've traced these items, post back and well try to help?
WELCOME TO THE FORUM TOO, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE !!
Good Luck, I know how I feel about my X Type, so be patient and we should get you up to scratch on what needs done? Regards, Stu

Welcome to the forum bassman64,
You describe the car as 'mint' so I assume it was more drama than a collision on the M25. In that case - repair it!
Charging the battery and checking underneath for damage are the two things to do first. Of the codes you list, P1388 is not a 2002MY X-Type code so you may not be using a suitable code reader. They aren't all compatible with Jaguars. Code P1000 confirms someone has cleared the codes from memory recently. It means OnBoard monitoring tests not completed since last memory clear.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.
