Default Dash Vent Popping out and......

My dash vent on the passenger side is popped out, but the dash is also kind of buckled up near the center of the dash vent. I can put the vent in and push down on it and it pushed the dash pad down also, but it will never hold. How do I "glue" or fix the dash pad down, so it won't be putting pressure on the dash vent to pop it out?

Thanks.

I have done searches on this, but no one mentions the actual dash pad buckling up.

I ended up using some glue that I had left over from a jet ski that I restored. The glue was for gluing down the rubber feet pads. I bent one of those metal plumbers flux brushes up and was able to get the glue under the pad. I then put the plastic vent back in and wedged a piece of wood between the windshield and the dash pad/vent to hold it down while the glue dried.

So far it is holding.

I had the same thing happen on my 04 3.0. The dealer said it was the clip that held the vent cover down. Apparently if you live in a cold area and use the defroster a lot, the continued heat will warp the clip. Either replace that assembly ($150) or just stick with the glue.

Vents popping out are common.Jag revised the design twice.Easiest and cheapest fix is to put some bathroom silicone on and refix.Try to leave 24 hours before using car.A few friends have tried this, one 8 months ago and the other 6 months ago and vent still hasnt popped back up.Total cost £2

The dash pad on mine was actualy seperating from the plastic underneath and popping up. The plastic piece was fine. My first glue attempt only lasted a day or two and it curled itself back up. The second time I used JB Weld. It is a real pain to get the glue down the vent hole and under the dash pad so I taped up the dash to keep from getting glue on the top. I then wedged a board between the dash pad and the window to hold the pad down flat while the glue dried. Once that was dry I popped the plastic piece back in with a couple dabs of silicone since the round clip had since broke. It has been holding fine every since and no one would ever know anything was done to it.
