Daver, I believe this is normal. Here's an excerpt from a post I was contributing to.

Courtesy of jimgoose: "If you "blip" the throttle while warm does the tacho needle settle quickly but gently, or drop fast and undershoot normal idle slightly, before settling?" "Dropping-and-undershooting of the needle back to idle would generally indicate over-richness......."

I've also read in a few other posts that the tach should drop and settle slowly to idle speed. Chances are what you are seeing is normal.
