Diff oil - any tech guys here?
Jag recommeds a Castrol product for european cars. It is called Castrol differential. synthetic XAF-XJ
The dealer wants 90 dollars a litre for this oil, I called Castrol north america and they do not have an equivalent available over here.
I am wondering if some of the special name oils like redline are compatible.
let me know if you guys know what to put in the diff... ( same question for the transfer case. but seems like they accept any synthetic GL5 75W140 gear oil.

Sorry but needed to edit as the original author has had problems with others cutting and pasting the information. If I'm wrong let me know but I'm pretty sure he was ticked before for this...Gotta keep him happy as he is supplying us with good valuable information...no hard feelings

RE: Diff oil - any tech guys here?
good info..
there are some problems with the T-case article, but mosly it is great info. To be correct, the description of the output shaft SPEEDS is should be change to TORQUE. the writer of the article states the output (FT and Rear) shaft speeds are different due to the planetary gears. This is incorrect. the shafts turn the same speeds.. as long as you are driving on a straight line.
anyway.. I am now convinced that Red Line 75w140 is the right stuff... make sure it does not have the suffix NS .... (that is for non limited slip.. )
Even though the Jag diff and T-case do not have friction plates, the spec calls for a LS addtitive.

Hey bo jag_genius is located here in the states...thus far he has been an extremely valuable asset for many people on this site. His prices will speak for themselves and he doesn't have bloated shipping charges either....he also has an ebay store too so no worries in getting ripped off...

Yeah we could...maybe make a jag_genius section too!
But yeah we should...his prices are unbeatable and he does have an ebay store for those that are worried of being ripped off...I know once I have the dough to fix my problems I'll be going to him...a local import shop wants 130 per shock and he wants 200 for both and 20 to ship so I'd be saving quite a bit...although I wonder what the warranty is on them? Most aftermarket shock for cars I've ever bought had a lifetime warranty...not sure about the bilsteins?
